Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a sports car that was produced by Volkswagen from 1955 to 1974. It was designed by Ghia and built by Karmann. The Karmann Ghia was based on the Volkswagen Type 1 (the Beetle) but it had a stylish body that was designed by Ghia and built by Karmann. The Karmann Ghia was introduced at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show and it was an instant hit. It was available as a coupe and a convertible and it was powered by a 1.2 liter air-cooled engine. The Karmann Ghia was very successful and it was produced until 1974 when it was replaced by the Volkswagen Scirocco.
